The Ruhr Valley Cycle Route is a popular long-distance cycle route that stretches around 240 kilometers from the source of the Ruhr in Winterberg Sauerland to where it flows into the Rhine near Duisburg. It leads through a varied landscape with lots of nature, historic towns and industrial sights.
The “From Ruhr to Ruhr” cycle route is a beautiful circular route starting in Hattingen, which – as the name suggests – passes the Ruhr in two sections: once at the beginning and once at the end of the route. It connects the scenic Ruhr region with parts of the Bergisch and Märkisch Sauerland and runs mainly on former railroad lines and quiet country roads.
“Industrial heritage route by bike” is part of the well-known Route of Industrial Heritage in the Ruhr region, specially designed for cyclists. It connects the most important industrial monuments, museums and sights of the Ruhr’s industrial past on a dense network of cycle paths.
How do I behave correctly in traffic? In order to teach children how to behave safely on bicycles, the traffic watch regularly conducts cycling training courses with primary school children. K&L-Verlag and Kreisverkehrswacht Ennepe-Ruhr e.V. have published a new child-friendly coloring and workbook with digital content and learning success control. We think: That’s a good thing! That’s why we support the project.
The book teaches children in third and fourth grade about the dangers of road traffic in an age-appropriate and fun way, teaches correct behavior and prepares them for the bicycle test. They learn that traffic signs must be observed, when a bicycle is roadworthy and why it makes sense to wear a helmet when cycling. They are also taught the correct behavior in the event of a traffic accident.
A digital learning success check shows the children whether they have solved the tasks in the book correctly. The posters to hang up in the classroom help to reinforce the learning content. A bicycle helmet can save lives in road traffic. For this reason, the Ennepe-Ruhr District Road Safety Association is also providing cycle helmets for children who do not have a helmet or have a defective one. Thanks to the support of many local companies, the coloring books, workbooks, posters and helmets can be distributed free of charge to primary school children in the Ennepe-Ruhr district. A commitment that we are very happy to support.
